El Salto de la Novia is a beautiful place where you will see a spectacular 60 m. waterfall. This place is surrounded by nature, the water of the river and the special forms of the mountains due to erosion.
There is a legend linked to this place:
"Many years ago, when a couple was going to get married, they had to take part in a curious ceremony in order to prove that they really loved each other. Sometime before the marriage, they had to go where the river becomes narrower and there, in the presence of everybody, the bride had to jump to the opposite river bank. If the bride managed to jump without falling, their marriage would be happy. This way, the bride would prove that she really loved the groom. But if she didn't manage to jump, the marriage was considered unhappy and the engagement was broken off.
During many years, the fear of missing the jump or not having courage to try it would make brides in love probably find this custom terrifying. But one day, a couple whose names history has already forgotten, finished with this custom tragically.
They walked radiant with happiness towards the river with the aim to prove everybody that they really loved each other. People were getting impatient for the jump. The bride prepared herself to jump, got up speed and then fell unfortunately into an eddy. When the groom saw what happened, he threw himself into the river in order to save his sweetheart, but after trying very hard, he was also enveloped in a strong eddy and then both disappeared in the water. Some hours later both dead bodies floated together. And at full moon nights, the murmur of the river seems to sing a sweet and sad chant that deplores having killed those two lovers."
